Scenario to specification

From your process condition to the specs to confirm

Four common buying situations, the specifications that actually change the order, and what to do next. Confirm each line with the engineering team before you release a purchase order.

01

Corrosive chemical stored in a tank

  • Antenna material: PP or PTFE wave horn
  • Medium and concentration for material confirmation
  • Process temperature and pressure at the nozzle

Send the chemistry so the wave horn material is confirmed against your specific product.

02

Solid material in a silo

  • Solid applications sit with the OPTIWAVE 6300
  • Confirm range, antenna and safety data on that listing
  • Share silo height and filling profile

Open the 6300 page or ask for a model comparison against the 5200C/F.

03

Hygienic pharmaceutical or water service

  • Non-contact measurement: no medium contact
  • Distance, level and volume from one device
  • Optional local display with a 4-button keypad

Request a configuration matched to your cleaning and documentation needs.

04

Retrofit on an existing BM 70x flange

  • Backwards compatible with all BM 70x flange systems
  • Housing can sit horizontally or vertically, 360° rotation
  • State the installed flange standard and rating

Read the flange-swap explainer and bring your flange details to the enquiry form.

What decides the order

Three specifications that change the purchase

Range, antenna material and flange continuity are where most level-meter projects stall. Each one is explained below, and each one ends in the same place: the data you send with your enquiry.

01 — RANGE

What a 30 m (98.4 ft) range really gives you

The OPTIWAVE 5200C/F is specified for a measuring range of up to 98.4 ft (30 m). Treat that as the ceiling, not the guaranteed working span: foam, condensation, nozzle height and vessel shape — a tall narrow tank behaves differently from a wide flat one — all reduce the usable range. Send a simple sketch with tank height, nozzle length and the highest and lowest levels you need, and range can be matched to geometry instead of a headline figure.

Send your tank sketch with your enquiry →

02 — ANTENNA MATERIAL

PP or PTFE for aggressive media

Both PP (polypropylene) and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) wave horn antennas are offered, and both are listed for measuring corrosive products. The choice is chemical rather than cosmetic: give the medium, its concentration and the process temperature so the antenna material can be confirmed against that specific chemistry. Because the measurement is non-contact, the antenna never touches the product, which keeps build-up, cleaning and contamination off the wetted-part list entirely.

Send the medium and concentration with your enquiry →

03 — FLANGE CONTINUITY

Reusing a BM 70x flange on a retrofit

The converter is backwards compatible with all BM 70x flange systems, which is what makes a like-for-like replacement practical: in most cases the existing flange stays on the nozzle and only the electronics and antenna are replaced. Check two things before you commit — the flange standard and rating currently installed, and the housing position your installation needs, since the housing can sit horizontally or vertically with 360° rotation and the bayonet cover opens without removing the housing.

Confirm your flange standard → through the enquiry form below.

Request for quote

Send these details and we return a model and a quote

The faster the process data arrives, the faster the model, antenna and flange can be pinned down. One tag or a full project list — both work.

  • Medium and concentration — what is in the vessel and how aggressive it is.
  • Process temperature and pressure — normal and maximum values at the nozzle.
  • Tank or silo height, nozzle length and position — plus the highest and lowest levels to be measured.
  • Required approvals and documentation — certificates and calibration records you need with the order.
  • SIL requirement — whether the loop is safety-related and needs the SIL2 rating to IEC 61508.
  • Existing flange standard and rating — for example an installed BM 70x flange to be reused.
  • Preferred output, display and housing position — including whether the optional local display is wanted.

Pre-sales questions

Engineering FAQs before you order

The questions that come up most often between specification and purchase order.

What does the OPTIWAVE 5200C/F measure, and in which industries?

It is a non-contact FMCW radar level meter that measures distance, level and volume of liquids and pastes, including corrosive products and aggressive paste materials. The product page lists chemical, pharmaceutical, water treatment and power as application industries.

How far can the measurement reach?

The stated measuring range is up to 98.4 ft (30 m). Tank height, nozzle position and the geometry around the antenna all affect how much of that range is usable, so send a simple tank sketch with your enquiry.

Should I choose a PP or a PTFE wave horn antenna?

Both PP (polypropylene) and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) wave horn antennas are offered, and both are listed for measuring corrosive products. Share the medium and its concentration so the antenna material can be confirmed against your specific chemical and process temperature.

Can I replace an installed KROHNE BM 70x with this converter?

The converter is backwards compatible with all BM 70x flange systems, so the existing flange can normally stay on the nozzle while the electronics and antenna are replaced. Confirm your flange standard and rating with the team before ordering.

Is it suitable for safety-related systems?

The unit is SIL2-compliant according to IEC 61508. Each device is also calibrated on dedicated calibration rigs before it leaves the factory, and calibration documentation can be requested with your order.

How do I get a model recommendation and a quote?

Send the medium, concentration, process temperature and pressure, tank or silo height and nozzle, required approvals, SIL requirement and existing flange standard through the contact page. The engineering team replies with a recommended model and a quote.
